Preparation:
The PeerSync installation should be installed on a machine that can see the folders that need to be synchronized on the two machines – this may be either machine involved in the synchronization, or a completely separate machine.
The following steps are performed on the machine where PeerSync is installed.
1. Start PeerSync Profiler.
2. Click on the Job menu at the top and choose Add then select Job with Defaults.
3. Change the drop-down list in the top left from Basic to Advanced.
4. In the Folder Selection window, enter the local drive path that needs to be replicated in the Source Folder field. Enter the UNC path or mapped drive letter for the destination of the replicated data in the Target Folder field.
5. In the Automation window, under the Scanning Options section, you will be able to schedule the synchronization to Scan Job every x minutes or setting up a daily timer schedule by selecting Scan Job at x.
6. In the File Options window, check the options Add-synchronize new files and Update-synchronize existing files. If you would like file and folder deletion events to be replicated to the second server, check the option Replicate-Delete unmatched files. If this is enabled, we recommend clicking on the Move Options… button and selecting a folder or the Recycle Bin to place the deleted files in, otherwise files will be permanently deleted from the system.
7. In the File Options window, select Bi-directional (both directions). Choose Ok in the pop-up message box. Now click on Global Settings link to the right of this option and check the Use enhanced bi-directional synchronization mode options.
8. In the Options/Commands window click on the button to the right of the Command Line Argument filed to open the Current Command Line Argument Selection dialog box. Add /YO- and /QYD:0 to the list of command line arguments. These options are recommended when doing standard or enhanced bidirectionalsynchronization (i.e. the “Always create a super-set during bi-directional synchronization” option is NOT selected) to ensure that deleted files from one side are not re-added by the other side. These arguments should NOT be used if there are more than two machines involved in a bi-directional synchronization. You can find more information about these options in the PeerSync Help Document.
9. (Optional) In the StartUp/Service window, choose the desired startup method. In order to setup PeerSync to run unattended as a service, choose Install as an NT Service.
Note: If running as a service, make sure the service is using a non-local system account, such as domain admin or any other account that has access to the replicated directories.
10. Save the profile by going to the File menu and choosing Save or Save As.
11. Run PeerSync by going to the Run/View Current Profile.
